Losergeek.org.CO, Jakarta – PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) is collaborating with Pertamina Patra Niaga and Pertamina New Renewable Energy in studying the use of electric cars in commercial activities in urban areas. Through the collaboration, Honda will provide 1 unit of the Honda N-Van EV Prototype, the Japanese automaker’s next-generation light van.
The purpose is to support the mobility of goods delivery from warehouses to Jakarta-located units of Bright Store, a retail business unit owned by PT Pertamina Retail, a subsidiary of Pertamina Patra Niaga.
In the joint-research, Pertamina will collect data and experiences related to the use of electric cars, especially in commercial activities. Aspects to be studied in the collaborative study include battery reliability, charging process, and the comfort and practicality of the N-Van EV Prototype car in goods delivery activities in urban areas.
Kotaro Shimizu, president director of PT Honda Prospect Motor, said that the joint-study with the N-Van EV Prototype aims to understand the needs of consumers and infrastructure in Indonesia.
“We truly appreciate the support from Pertamina as one of Indonesia’s leading companies with a vision that is in line with Honda’s—to create environmentally friendly technology for the future,” he said at the 2023 GIIAS on Monday, 14 August.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Patra Niaga president director Riva Siahaan said that the collaboration is Pertamina Patra Niaga’s step—through its subsidiary Pertamina Retail which operates the Bright Store—to drive energy transition in the Non-Fuel Retail business line.
The N-Van EV Prototype was first introduced in the Japanese market in 2018 as one of the brand’s electric cars used for commerce.
